Before quoting a switchboard: the information that defines a sound selection

From the single-line diagram to installation conditions: organize information for engineering discussions and compare proposals with the same scope.

Price needs a technical boundary

Two similarly sized switchboards may satisfy different requirements. Before comparing prices, agree on the equipment's function, what the proposed supply includes and how its correspondence with the project will be verified.

A minimum selection dossier

  • Current single-line diagram, circuit identification and switchboard function.
  • Voltage, load characteristics and short-circuit data defined by engineering.
  • Installation conditions: indoor or outdoor, space, access and environment.
  • Protection, switching, metering and coordination requirements.
  • Documentation, tests, interfaces and delivery responsibilities.

Compare proposals with the same scope

A comparable proposal identifies references, scope, exclusions and documentation. Clarify whether it includes supply, integration, installation or commissioning, and who defines and verifies interfaces with the installation. A commercial image does not replace a technical data sheet.

Resolve questions before supply

Record clarifications in a single requirements version. If a load or installation condition changes, review the engineering impact before retaining the selected reference. This discipline reduces ambiguity between designers, suppliers and installers.
